thru a bedroom window

starlight comes faint beyond frozen mist
pale shadows from a white oak
stretched as finger bones reach
from unnamed need unknown wants

rough bark edged in frost.
inside the fire cracks, mocks
an empty bed , colder yet.

nope, my father's grandparents came from cornwall in england and my mother's parents were italian immigrants from calabria. i grew up seeing them everyday so i'm more italian american than anything BUT my aunt, my mom's brother's wife is irish and she is a hoot! oh believe me, italians can get moody and weepy and as gloomy as any irishman. then again, cornwall is where stonehenge is and is considered celtic. hummmm? ; ) thanks

Some Cornish consider themselves Celtic, not English.

yes, i have some friends in england and they say that most of cornwall would be celtic, not english and were suprised that my father's family didn't know that, but they've been here a long time now. i guess it's sort of how a lot of people think siclians and italians are the same, but don't tell a sicilian that. ah, anything to subdivide and disect. actually i found being considered celtic rather cool!

oh and my friends in england did say that the "regular" british sort of look down on cornwall as being low class. i wouldn't know if that is a true statement but i'll take their word on it. it's their country.
