went with mom to her doctor appt.
she's doing pretty good but he wants her to eat more.
he wanted her to start drinking liquid supplements.
1 each day but she doesn't like them.

this time he insisted so i told her i'd pick up a few different kinds so she could try them and let me know which she would tolerate drinking,

this isn't going to be easy. i know my mom.

FWIW, maybe blending some fruit with them?

I got my 17 year old son to drink celery and protein by mixing it with fruit juice he likes, basically tossing stuff into a blender.

I think consistency is a critical factor, right behind taste.

thanks. my mom has gotten even pickier than she used to and being a heart patient, her sense of taste is off.

she is allowed to eat anything she wants but she doesn't want much.

she has developed a taste for shrimp tho. why? i haven't a clue.
so i buy her shrimp now and then. she likes the beer battered shrimp, no other kind.

she will eat homemade soup, so i make her that, but still, that's not all that much.

i'll try the fruit idea. she does like fresh fruit, plums and peaches and watermelon, pineapple.

Since my mother had her stomach removed last summer, I worry all the time about her weight. She should be eating many small meals throughout the day but old habits die hard and she ends up with the traditional breakfast, lunch and dinner, which causes her to not get enough to eat, as she can only handle small portions at one time.

Getting her to try anything new is like pulling hen's teeth.

Good luck with your mom!
