these are some of the pictures from the party yesterday. it was the first time i've ever gone to candy and her hubby's annual bash. they have had a party outside on this land since candy was a kid. the family has acres and acres of land that i think orginally had been purchaced by her grandpap. i know i was talking with her dad about the place yesterday and i'm pretty sure that's what he told me. her dad is a very nice guy, 80 years young. i enjoyed talking with him and a few of the old ones there and well as watching the babies and the young ones in their rubber boots and rain gear playing in the rain. it was a huge party. tents were up. there was food aplenty! they roasted 2 turkeys on a big spit by the oak fire and a big pork rast PLUS the deep fried another turkey. i never had a deep fried turkey til about 5 or 6 years ago and i was afaid it would be greasey and really upset my tummy but let me say- deep fried turkey is AMAZING! moist and not greasey in the slighted- so that's what i pigged out on. the rain eventually stopped but it was really cold- i started sipping jack from a plastic cup and wasn't cold anymore! pudd'n and gerri-lee were there and a lot of the folks from laughlin's pub where candy works. we all had a blast. it was a lot of work for candy's family to put this all together and i'll bet it's a ton more work to break everything down, clean it up and store it away. i won a big BIG basket full of things because i guessed the closest to the number of things (i can't recall what they were) in a big jar-without going over! i can't remember the number i wrote on the slip of paper either! jack and a belly full of turkey will do that! ; ) it was the most fun i've had in ages! - thanks to candy and her hubby and their whole family!
