Bloomberg :

"18.1% of Americans don't pay income tax. Half of that 18.1% are retired senior citizens, a third of that number are working but earning such a low hourly wage they don't meet the minimum to pay income tax, the rest are our servicemen in Afghanistan, our disabled veterans, and our citizens who earn over 500K annually.
There is no "government benefit' that pays a person indefinitely to not work. There is no incentive to not work, the unemployed are collecting their employment security check that they paid into while working! Our seniors are collecting their retirement benefits that they paid into all their working lives. Our disabled are collecting their disability payments from the fund they paid into all of their working lives. Just like welfare, TANF, is paid into while employed so if you need assistance you are collecting from what you paid into! There are ZERO welfare mothers out there, there are mothers who collect temporary assistance money while seeking employment. Every state has a work requirement and a lifetime limit which averages under 5 years. It is a fallacy that there is this funding for the nonworking in our society and 47% aren't paying taxes
