my grandma's skolidi recipe:

12 eggs
1 package dry yeast
pinch of salt
1 cup oil
1 tsp. vanilla
flour(amount depends)

honey (1 tsp sugar for every cup of honey)

1 gallon of peanut oil for deep frying.

add the yeast to the 1 cup of oil

beat the eggs til light colored then add the yeast/oil mixture, vanilla
and salt

add enough flour to make a soft but not sticky dough
let rest under bowl for about 5 minutes

cut off small pieces of dough and roll out 3 thin snakes to about 4 or 5 inches and braid pinching the loose end to keep it shut when it fries (if not it looks like tree roots( which taste just fine anyway!)

fry in peanut oil til they float up, turn once (be careful with the oil, nasty stuff if not watched carefully!

drain cookies and when cool
add to a skillet that you have heated honey and sugar together

when turned and coated remove to a big platter to dry.

you can add a little lemon juice and/or cinnamon to the honey mixture.
my grandparents never did, but i have.
