Pope Francis' upcoming visit to Philadelphia challenges us to put our faith into action. Is it okay with you that nearly three months past the deadline Pennsylvania still has no budget for this year? Without adequate funding, school districts across the state had to make deep sacrifices: In Chester Upland, teachers were willing to work without pay to make sure the school year opened for thousands of students; In Lancaster County school districts are looking to withhold payments to charter schools; In Erie, Superintendent Jay Badams is considering temporarily closing the district; and in Philadelphia, students continue to suffer from the cuts made to public education funding in previous years.

Are you okay with hundreds of school districts not knowing how much money they will get in state funding? That legislators won't agree to the governor's proposed $400M increase in state education funding, an amount that doesn't even restore the cuts made over the past 4 years?

Speak up and exercise your moral conscience! In the words of Pope Francis (in his address to the World Meeting of Popular Movements) "So let's not be afraid to say it: we NEED change; we WANT change." Take 3 minutes to call State Senate Majority Leader Jake Corman tomorrow [(717) 787-1377] and tell him our kids are worth it!  Use your own personal message or the script below:

"My name is xxx, and I care about funding for our public schools. I am inspired by the Pope's message to put my faith into action. I ask that Senator Corman do everything in his power to quickly pass a budget that includes at least $400M in increased funding for public schools, because our kids our worth it. Thank you."
