SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Sen. Hillary Clinton referred Friday to the assassination of Robert Kennedy in 1968 Democratic campaign as a reason she should continue to campaign despite increasingly long odds.

Clinton was responding to a question from the Sioux Falls Argus Leader editorial board about calls for her to drop out of the race.

"My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. I don't understand it," she said, dismissing the idea of dropping out.

Clinton said she didn't understand why, given this history, some Democrats were calling for her to quit...

that's just beyond any words from me.

There are indeed many "Americans" who will NOT have a black man as their President.

But to imply that one is "staying in the race" 'till we see if Obama gets a bullet is, um, WRONG.

And that's exactly how Clinton's comment struck me.

It was insensitive.

I'm trying to be fair and assume she was just making a statement about how long candidates in other elections continued their campaigns. But I guess this isn't the first time has come out of her mouth.

Hillary Clinton is just a Republican hawk in Democrats clothing. The Clintons are such a dissapointment and even an embarrassment, at this point.

I'm so tired of the nasty things that are said about her as a woman, though. It's really shameful. Her looks, her dress, the quality of her voice, her daughter.

yes, i too am not happy, tho not surprised, at the snark about her looks etc. but i also thought it nasty when kucinich was made fun of for his looks/age/height and wife or how edwin muskie was pushed to his limits and then deemed flawed or when what's his name(having a senior moment here, oh, dukakis)was laughed out of the race because of the tank photos.

it goes on and on. i bought a book called "anything for a vote"
seems dirty political campaigns are nothing new from the begining.

me, i think she has been throwing out that statement/idea , just like a trial lawyer who knows damn well the judge is going to tell the jury to disregard the statement all the while knowing that there will be some jurors that won't be able to.

i have lost most of my respect for the clintons. sad. not that they would care.
