the scholarship awards and luncheon
went very well. it was nice to meet the winners
and their families. they each read their essays to the
members of the club that were there and one girl's mother read hers
because she was already at orientation at her college.
they were all very good essays and i think we made good choices
tho there were some very good applicants and i wish we had more
money to give away.

and, there was CAKE! oh, i like me some cake, i do! ; )

We had OPUS 17 a "band" from Royston, playing on Jesus Green Sunday afternoon for children & those not so hot on soccer World Cup. You would've loved it. But you (or I) can be in two places at once, with the children there and the children here. I must get a camera. You got any pics of your "do"?

PS - light showers today water the parched grass, and those burnt BBQ patches. saves having to use hoses, now we got a ban. lol!

hi, no, i didn't bring a camera, but the guy from the "town flyer" which is a small local monthly newsletter took a group shot. he does every year.

i hope the kids put the money to good use. this year they received $750.00 each in a check that can be put towards anything they need. bus passes or meal tickets, books, lab fees, what ever is needed. i like that. my daughter recieved a few grants when she was in college but it came right off her tuition which hardly made a dent in that bill. she could have used it much better on books or parking permits etc.
