Did you all catch this gem yesterday? . Trump via Fox Business: “We’re working on a very major tax cut for middle income people. White House and Congressional leaders are studying very deeply, round the clock to create another tax cut, not for business at all, that will be announced on November 1st or sooner. It will be more of a middle class. We did a lot for the middle class, but this will be more aimed at the middle class.” . For those who’ve been in a coma since last December, a quick review: . • Trump and his party pushed through a massive tax cut late last year. It has proven very unpopular, even amongst many Republicans, because it (stop me if you’ve heard this before) largely benefitted the Courvoisier class over you and me. Oh, and it punched a hole in the deficit big enough to buy Peru. . • Today is October 22nd. . • The midterm races are tightening. . • Trump said “White House and Congressional leaders are studying very deeply, round the clock to create another tax cut.” . • He said it’ll be announced “on November 1st or sooner.” . • Election Day is November 6th. . So what’s so weird about that? THIS: Congress isn’t even in session. They don’t return until Tuesday, November 13th. . So Trump told yet another bald faced LIE, hoping to hoodwink disenfranchised middle class voters into voting for a nonexistent plan for nonexistent tax cuts for what might just as well be the nonexistent middle class. He needs us to win elections, after that, ppffft. The Republicans know the tax cut flopped, so they put on this little last ditch skit to try to sway any stragglers back into the fold. And Fox Business Channel teed it up for him as if they were breaking some actual “news.” . Trump + Fox News = 💩 . Heaven help us all if the #BlueWave doesn’t wash us clean of this pestilence. Bruce L.
